Welcome to Peru! Arrive in Lima, where you will be welcomed at the airport and privately transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is intentionally left unstructured, giving you time to settle in, reset after your flight, and ease into the journey ahead.
Begin in Lima’s historic center, where the Plaza de Armas introduces a city shaped by centuries of change. Grand colonial architecture surrounds the square, but this is only one chapter in Lima’s much longer story.
The Convent of Santo Domingo, one of Lima's oldest religious complexes, offers a glimpse into the city’s colonial and spiritual heritage. Step through its historic cloisters and uncover the stories of some of Peru’s most revered saints.
At the Larco Museum, the perspective changes completely. Its remarkable collection takes you thousands of years beyond the Inca Empire, revealing the civilizations, beliefs, and artistic traditions that shaped Peru long before Machu Picchu existed. Here, the deeper story of Peru begins to unfold and provides context for everything that follows.
Leave the Pacific behind and fly into the heart of the Andes.
Upon arrival in Cusco, continue directly into the Sacred Valley, descending into the Urubamba Valley amid mountain villages, cultivated fields, and dramatic Andean peaks. This gradual introduction to the Andes allows time to acclimatize before settling in beside the Urubamba River for a relaxed evening in the valley.
Explore one of the defining relationships of the Andes: that between people and the land.
Fed by a natural spring, thousands of salt pools cascade down the mountainside at Maras. The salt is still harvested using techniques passed through generations of local families.
The remarkable concentric terraces of Moray reveal the sophisticated ways the Incas understood agriculture, altitude, and the Andean environment.
Enjoy lunch at historic Hacienda Huayoccari, a traditional family estate surrounded by the landscapes of the Sacred Valley. Afterwards, experience the elegance of the Peruvian Paso horse, celebrated for its distinctive smooth gait and graceful movement.
Walk through one of the Andes’ best-preserved Inca towns, where original stone streets, canals and centuries-old foundations remain part of everyday life.
All Aboard the Belmond Hiram Bingham! Travel in refined style aboard this iconic train, with first-class service, gourmet dining, and panoramic views along the way. As the Sacred Valley narrows, watch the high Andes gradually give way to lush cloud forest, steep mountains, and the winding Urubamba River on the journey toward Machu Picchu.
There are places you have seen hundreds of times before you ever arrive. And then you finally stand there.
Yesterday was the introduction. Today, choose how you want to experience Machu Picchu again.*
Explore Machu Picchu at a more leisurely pace along the Royal Route, taking in the citadel’s ceremonial and royal sectors while appreciating its remarkable architecture and mountain setting.
For the adventurous, take on the steep ascent of Huayna Picchu, rising dramatically above the citadel for a challenging climb and a striking perspective over Machu Picchu and the mountains beyond.
For a more active experience, follow the trail toward Inti Punku-the Sun Gate, climbing above the citadel for a different perspective across Machu Picchu and the surrounding mountains.*

Today is not simply a tour, but a story of what happens when civilizations collide. Once the capital of the Inca Empire, Cusco reveals its history layer by layer - Inca foundations, colonial architecture and centuries-old traditions that continue to shape the city today.
Begin above the city at Sacsayhuaman, where enormous stones were assembled with extraordinary precision into some of the most impressive surviving examples of Inca engineering.
Stand in Cusco itself, where Qorikancha perhaps reveals the city’s transformation most clearly: once among the most sacred temples of the Inca Empire, its stone foundations later became incorporated into the colonial complex of Santo Domingo.
Experience another side of the city at San Pedro Market, filled with produce, local ingredients and the rhythms of everyday Cusco.
Step inside one of the city’s most important colonial landmarks, where grand architecture and celebrated works of the Cusqueña School reflect the blending of European and Andean artistic traditions.
Set out on one of Peru's great scenic rail journeys, traveling across the Andes from Cusco toward the shores of Lake Titicaca. Panoramic windows frame the changing highland scenery, while a gourmet lunch, live music, traditional performances and afternoon tea accompany the journey.
Pause at La Raya, the highest point along the route at approximately 14,150 feet above sea level. Surrounded by sweeping mountain views and the vast landscapes of the Peruvian Altiplano, this dramatic pass marks the natural divide between the Cusco and Lake Titicaca regions.
Arrive in Puno, gateway to legendary Lake Titicaca and the vast Peruvian Altiplano. Settle in for a relaxed evening on the shores of the world’s highest navigable lake, with its deep blue waters framed by the distant Andes.
Set out across the tranquil waters of Lake Titicaca, the world’s highest navigable lake, where island communities, ancient traditions and sweeping Andean landscapes come together at more than 12,000 feet above sea level.
Venture onto the extraordinary Uros Floating Islands, built entirely from layers of native totora reeds. Meet members of the community and see how the reeds remain central to their homes, boats and distinctive way of life on the lake.
Across the deep blue waters lies Taquile Island, where centuries-old textile traditions remain an important expression of community and culture. Meet local islanders, share a traditional lunch and take in expansive views across Lake Titicaca and the distant Andes.
After a memorable day exploring Lake Titicaca, transfer to Juliaca Airport for your evening flight to Lima.
Back in Lima and settle into Miraflores, the capital's vibrant coastal district overlooking the Pacific. Enjoy a relaxed evening surrounded by ocean views, leafy parks and the energy of one of Lima's most inviting neighborhoods.
Your final day unfolds at an easy pace, with a leisurely morning to relax or take in the coastal atmosphere of Miraflores. This afternoon, experience a final side of Lima, one that brings together its ancient past, Pacific coastline and contemporary creative spirit.
Hidden within modern Miraflores stands Huaca Pucllana, a remarkable adobe pyramid built by the Lima civilization more than 1,500 years ago. Enjoy lunch overlooking this ancient archaeological site, an extraordinary contrast between Lima’s past and present.
Take in sweeping views of the Pacific from Parque del Amor, one of Miraflores’ most recognizable coastal landmarks, before making your way toward the colorful streets and bohemian character of neighboring Barranco.
Step inside the home and studio of renowned Peruvian artist Víctor Delfín, an intimate setting filled with art, personality and creative history. Discover the space behind many of his celebrated works and a more personal side of Peru’s contemporary art scene.
Situated in the prominent coastal district of Miraflores in Lima, InterContinental Real Lima Miraflores boasts a highly advantageous location just steps from the Larcomar shopping center. Featuring contemporary architecture, the hotel offers a refined selection of guest rooms and suites, with select accommodations affording wide views of the Pacific Ocean. Its facilities include a rooftop infinity pool, a fitness center, and multiple dining venues, delivering the hardware standards and reliable service expected of an international luxury brand.
A Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, part of Marriott International, is the only hotel in Urubamba with a private train station to Machu Picchu. It offers facilities such as spa and heated indoor swimming pool. The elegantly designed rooms offer a private balcony with views of the natural environment. You can also use the modern gymnasium or comfortable lounge which is equipped with a pool table and various board games for relaxation.
With only 31 rooms, this is the only hotel located at the entrance of Machu Picchu. While most travelers have to wake up at 4am to get in line for the local shuttle bus (then spend another 40 minutes en route) to get to the entrance of Machu Picchu, an overnight stay here means you can avoid the crowds and visit Machu Picchu conveniently without any hassles. Although a night here has a price tag of almost $1000/night, it is well worth it for a chance to experience Machu Picchu at different times of the day.
Palacio Nazarenas has been awarded 2019 Travelers' Choice Award from TripAdvisor. Built on Inca foundations and refinished with all the modern comforts, the beautifully decorated rooms here have a blend of understated elegance with Peruvian touches. Did we mention the minibar is free for your enjoyment?
A stay at GHL Hotel Lake Titicaca, on the private island of Esteves, offers you a privileged position from which to marvel at the richly colored dawn sky or relax at the end of the day with a glass of red wine as you watch the sunset over the lake. The hotel is located at one extreme of Titicaca, in the bay of Puno on a rocky hill surrounded by the extensive reed forest or totorales that dominate this side of the bay.
This hotel, located in the Miraflores district of Lima, is truly an urban oasis. Tucked away in a peaceful verdant garden, it is only a 5-min walk to the bustling Larcomar Shopping Center. All of our rooms offer a prime ocean view and guest can enjoy breakfast on the 11th floor with a spectacular view of Lima city and the Pacific Ocean coastline.
My recent tour with Supera to Peru has been as memorable as my last two (Hokkaido, Taiwan), but this one stands out, so I decide to write about it. Due to its altitude and terrain, Peru/Machu Picchu poses a particular challenge to an ordinary traveler like myself. Trip design is excellent and well-paced; they include top-notch hotels and exquisite cuisine. All our tour guides are great. Special shout-out to our tour leader, Manu. He is responsive, resourceful, and attentive to detail. The sunrise at Lago Titicaca is well planned and memorable (hot coffee and a warm fire pit, wow). Would I travel with Supera again? Absolutely!
Just got back from Peru. Lodgings were outstanding, food was delicious and varied, guides and fellow travelers became good friends (many thanks to Manu and Javier), and the experience was spectacular. Incan and pre-Colombian relics and ruins need to be seen to be truly appreciated. Our second tour with Supera turned out to be as memorable as the first!
It was awesome that we could take our time and were not rushed. It was a difficult hike (Huayna Picchu) to do at high altitude but making it to the top was worth it. We managed to make down barely in time for check out but it was great that the couple behind us was able to get an extension on their check out time. It was great that Manu was able to go up the mountain with us. He was a big help with the slower group.

I want to say mahalo AGAIN for doing such an excellent job in guiding us through the amazing tour of Peru and returning us safely back home. Your warm personality and cheerfulness that greeted us every morning pushed us to our physical limits on the climbs.....of which I’m sure I lost some brain cells from lack of oxygen.....but now we can all say “been there-done that!!”
